Sorenson Transportation Company, Inc. is a long haul less-than-truck load and truck load carrier providing temperature controlled service of time and temperature sensitive materials. We are a general commodities carrier pursuant to the operating authority #MC136830 and various sub-numbers both common and contract granted by the Interstate Commerce Commission on January 8, 1970, and currently regulated by the United States Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration and the United States Customs Service. The company was incorporated under the laws of the state of Washington in 1980, as a successor to a sole proprietorship operated by Darrell E. Sorenson since 1970. Executive offices are located at 632 California Street Street in Chehalis, Washington.

Sorenson Transportation Company operates as a common carrier of perishables between the states of Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, and Utah with connecting service to the borders of Mexico and Canada. It hauls primarily frozen and chilled prepared food products including, but not limited to: seafood, poultry, beef,pork, dairy products (including ice cream), bakery goods, juices, fruits, and vegetables. It also transports items requiring a temperature controlled environment, such as: live plants, decorative greens, confectionery goods, candy extracts, cosmetics, frozen blood, ingredients for food manufacturing, medical & veterinary supplies, unexposed film, pharmaceuticals, heat sensitive aerospace, and computer materials.

Sorenson Transportation Company primarily travels along the Interstate 5 lane, “Blaine to San Ysidro route,” operating from a single break bulk terminal located between the major shipping points of Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon. The company serves the major cities of Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Reno, Las Vegas, Spokane, Boise, Salt Lake City, and Phoenix, as well as 2,000 other cities and towns within this seven state region. It delivers to more than 2,200 shippers and receivers of perishables, including several Fortune 500 food companies, as well as many small shippers and handles approximately 1,400 shipments each week. The company operates on set schedules much like a bus line, departing terminals and shippers at a scheduled time whether or not the truck is carrying one or 100 shipments. This assures Sorenson customers that their shipments are not delayed. Sorenson drivers are trained professionals, compensated well and treated fairly, most have been with the company for many years. A full-time safety department strictly monitors the hours of service that each driver operates. Sleeper team service may be required for certain loads. This service is available for a few more pennies per mile.
EQUIPMENT
Sorenson Transportation Company’s fleet consists of some of the, finest built trucks in the world. Average age is 3 years. Trailers are certified for food-grade use and do not carry hazardous materials, flammables, explosives or garbage. Top of the line refrigeration units are capable of maintaining temperatures from -20ºF to +100ºF, designed with movable inner walls for maximum temperature control. The company’s maintenance department is located at the main terminal property and includes a staff of full-time mechanics to maintain and service the modern fleet of tractors and trailers.
